The Şanlıurfa Governor’s Office has banned all meetings, marches, press statements, and protests throughout the province for a period of five days. In a statement issued by the Governor’s Office, it was stated that the decision was taken on the grounds of ensuring public order and safety. Under the ban, all events to be organized under the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911, as well as the entry of individuals and groups from outside the province into the city limits, have also been prohibited. It was announced that the ban would be in effect from January 27 at 00:01 to January 31 at 23:59.
